Surgery involving the cornea or sclera

Astigmatism - Surgery involving the cornea or sclera Factor

Surgery involving the cornea includes anything that cuts the cornea including removal of a foreign body, extracapsular cataract extraction and all the surgeries described in corneal surgery.

Surgery involving the sclera includes removal of a foreign body, removal of a tumour (extremely unlikely), or a "tunnelling procedure" to access the anterior chamber while avoiding the cornea.

Surgery involving the cornea or sclera would be recorded in medical documents.

PRELIMINARY QUESTIONS [26266]

26267 there is some evidence that surgery involving the cornea or sclera may be a factor in the development or worsening of the condition under consideration.

26398 the veteran has had surgery involving the cornea or sclera at some time.

26268 the veteran has had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body at some time.

26271 the veteran had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body as a consequence of an illness or injury which is identifiable.

26269  the veteran has established the causal connection between the surgery involving the cornea or sclera and VEA service for astigmatism.

26270   the veteran has established the causal connection between the surgery involving the cornea or sclera and VEA service for the clinical onset of astigmatism.

26275  the veteran has established the causal connection between the surgery involving the cornea or sclera and eligible service for the clinical onset of astigmatism.

or

26274  the veteran has established the causal connection between the surgery involving the cornea or sclera and operational service for the clinical onset of astigmatism.

or

7334     the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.

7335     the condition under consideration permanently worsened.

26273   the veteran has established the causal connection between the surgery involving the cornea or sclera and VEA service for the clinical worsening of astigmatism.

26277  the veteran has established the causal connection between the surgery involving the cornea or sclera and eligible service for the clinical worsening of astigmatism.

or

26276  the veteran has established the causal connection between the surgery involving the cornea or sclera and operational service for the clinical worsening of astigmatism.

CLINICAL ONSET AND OPERATIONAL SERVICE [26274]

26281 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury, the veteran had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body within the eighteen months before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

26282  the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body, is causally related to operational service.

CLINICAL ONSET AND ELIGIBLE SERVICE [26275]

39835 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury, the veteran had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body within the twelve months before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

26283  the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body, is causally related to eligible service.

CLINICAL WORSENING AND OPERATIONAL SERVICE [26276]

26272 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury, the veteran had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body within the eighteen months before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

26282  the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body, is causally related to operational service.

26284 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of operational service to which the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body, is causally related.

CLINICAL WORSENING AND ELIGIBLE SERVICE [26277]

39836 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury, the veteran had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body within the twelve months before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

26283  the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body, is causally related to eligible service.

26285 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of eligible service to which the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had surgery involving the cornea or sclera of side and site of the body, is causally related.
