Carpal tunnel syndrome - Infection Factor
Infections that may involve the carpal tunnel include:
· bacterial infections such as staphylococcus aureus
· viral infections such as rubella virus or vaccine or parvovirus B19 (erythema infectiosum)
· fungal infections such as histoplasmosis; and
· mycobacterial infections such as tuberculosis and leprosy (Hansen's disease).
If the veteran had suffered from such an infection involving the carpal tunnel, this history would have been identified by the doctor who diagnosed carpal tunnel syndrome.
