there is some evidence that chewing betel quid or areca nut may be a factor in the development of the condition under consideration.35432 the veteran has engaged in chewing betel quid or areca nut on more days than not for an extended period at some time.
35433 — the veteran has established the causal connection between chewing betel quid or areca nut and VEA service for the clinical onset of the malignant neoplasm of the oral cavity, oropharynx or hypopharynx.
35434 — the veteran has established the causal connection between chewing betel quid or areca nut and operational service for the clinical onset of the malignant neoplasm of the oral cavity, oropharynx or hypopharynx.

35435 — the veteran has established the causal connection between chewing betel quid or areca nut and eligible service for the clinical onset of the malignant neoplasm of the oral cavity, oropharynx or hypopharynx.

the veteran chewed betel quid or areca nut on more days than not for at least five years before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration, and where such usage has ceased the clinical onset has occurred within fifteen years of cessation. operational service made a material contribution to the veteran chewing betel quid or areca nut on more days than not for at least five years which continued to within fifteen years of the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.Clinical onset and eligible service [35435]
the veteran chewed betel quid or areca nut on more days than not for at least ten years before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration, and where such usage has ceased the clinical onset has occurred within ten years of cessation. eligible service made a material contribution to the veteran chewing betel quid or areca nut on more days than not for at least ten years which continued to within ten years of the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.
