Impact on pensioners

As many aged care residents are Centrelink or DVA income support pensioners, a data matching cycle has been developed to transfer a total assessable income figure from the pension assessment of Centrelink and DVA pensioners to the DH&FS on a daily basis.  Using this information, DH&FS are able to calculate the daily fees of affected residents.

Maximum rate pensioners will pay only the indexed basic daily fee (currently $21.10 per day but rising to $21.52 from 2 April 1998) and will not pay an income tested amount.
