Residents exempt from paying a bond

Certain residents cannot be asked to pay an accommodation bond by the facility they enter.  These people are:

  • residents who enter a facility before 1 October 1997(unless they move to a new facility after 1 October 1997);
  • concessional residents (see Concessional Residents below); and
  • people who are in respite care.

Ex-Prisoners of war are not exempt from paying accommodation bonds.
