Basic daily resident contribution
The basic daily resident contribution a person pays depends on whether they are an income support pensioner or a self-funded retiree.
Income support pensioners generally pay a basic daily resident contribution of $21.10 per day indexed ($21.52 from 2 April 1998) or $295.40 per fortnight ($301.28 per fortnight from 2 April 1998). This is equivalent to 85% of the single rate of pension.
Self-funded retirees pay a basic daily resident contribution of $26.40 per day indexed ($26.91 from 2 April 1998) or $369.60 per fortnight ($376.74 per fortnight from 2 April 1998).
Those receiving respite care pay $21.10 per day indexed ($21.52 from 2 April 1998) irrespective of pensioner status.
