Commonwealth Employees Rehabilitation And Compensation Act 1988

ANNOTATED CERC ACT 1988

1.  At the Defence Force Rehabilitation and Compensation Conference in May 1991 this office undertook to purchase and supply copies of the "Annotated Commonwealth Employees' Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988" to Regional Office compensation and rehabilitation staff at and above ASO5 level.

2.  The `Annotated Act' was received this week and the following numbers have been forwarded to each Regional Office:

DRO,NSW — 10 copies

DRO,VIC — 10 copies

DRO,QLD — 10 copies

DRO,SA — 3 copies

DRO,WA — 3 copies

DRO,TAS — 2 copies

3.  It is considered that the `Annotated Act' will be of considerable assistance to compensation operatives providing, in the annotations to each section, useful explanations of terms and worker's compensation concepts.   Case law and AAT decisions relevant to each section are also included in the annotations.

4.  The `Annotated Act' must only be viewed as an aid to assist understanding of the Commonwealth Employees' Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 and should not replace the Principal Act and amendments, Defence Compensation Advices and discussion with supervisors and officers of RDDFC Section as the major sources of interpretation.

5.  Additional copies of the `Annotated Act' are available from the Welfare Rights and Legal Centre Limited, PO Box 337, Civic Square, ACT, 2608.
