Setting Up An Agreement To Repay

Where 'money in' is paid over a period of time, a repayment agreement will need to be signed by both Comcare and the employee.

This agreement (at Appendix 8) clearly indicates the:

  • amount of money to be repaid per fortnight; and

  • over what period of time repayments will be made;

and provides a formal commitment by employees to completing repayment of the debt.

Such cases must be managed carefully.  As a matter of course, particularly until a routine is established, it can be difficult to remember/bother/care about making repayments.

Comcare takes overpayment recovery seriously, and believes the employee should also.  The agreement is a way of ensuring that the employee is clear about what needs to be repaid and formalises the process so it is taken more seriously.
