Changes To The System
The system has not remained in its original state since implementation, but is constantly being enhanced and redesigned as business needs change.
While much of PRACSYS' improvement has been in response to change requests from staff, suggesting better ways that the system might operate, the whole change process is an ongoing one. Comcare, like most organisations, does not remain static in its operation and business direction.
PRACSYS is a national system and any alterations usually affect users in all State offices and the Corporate Centre.
All requested changes are looked at by an Information Technology (IT) Committee and a 'Top 10' is formed, representing the 10 most important or necessary changes from the list. These are then passed to the Information Systems Group (ISG) to work on.
Prior to changes being made, the IT Committee ensures that proposed alterations are discussed with the originator of the change request.
Ideas and improvements to the system are encouraged from all staff. However, there is a set process that is required prior to a request being lodged for change:
-
discuss ideas and proposed alterations with other staff members; then
-
discuss the request for change with the State office Claims Services Manager, who co-ordinates requests and sends them on to the Operations Group for referral to the Committee.
