Return To Work Plans

The RTWP is completed using a set Comcare form.

The initial assessment is used as the basis for a RTWP.

The RTWP may be seen as a contract, or agreement between:

the employee,

case manager, and

rehabilitation provider to jointly achieve a return to work for the employee, with each party to the contract having their own obligations to fulfil.

The main focus of the RTWP should, in most cases, reflect a final goal of full return to work.

Following training, reference to the Case Manager Handbook, and use of literature (all supplied by Comcare), the case manager should be aware of Comcare's Rehabilitation Model and the many different ways to assist the employee meet his or her final goal.

With this in mind, the case manager should work with both the employee and rehabilitation provider to:

  • devise short term (or interim) goals (or 'milestones') for the RTWP,

  • look at reasonable time frames for success.
