Approved Rehabilitation Provider Training Course

Definition:

The Approved Rehabilitation Provider Training Course is a training course designed by Comcare Australia to enable rehabilitation providers to meet the requirements for accreditation as an approved rehabilitation provider under the terms of the SRC Act, and to work successfully in partnership with case managers.

Note: Individual providers who provide rehabilitation services, must complete this training within six months of accreditation.

Description:

This training course is designed to acquaint rehabilitation providers with Comcare Australia's Return to Work Model, and the role approved rehabilitation providers are expected to play in achieving return to work outcomes for Comcare Australia's customers.

The course includes the following –

– understanding Comcare Australia's business

– the Financial Framework (penalty/bonus)

– the Comcare Australia Total Claims Management Model

– workplace injury management

– knowing the SRC legislation

– providers in the Commonwealth Government workplace

– achieving outcomes acceptable to all parties

– rehabilitation provider quality assurance requirements

– provider partnership with Comcare Australia's customers.

The course is generally delivered over two days. Providers will gain practical information on the case estimation system and premium system, to enable them to understand the broader context of their involvement in the return to work process. The training course also includes valuable information about the quality assurance requirements for approved rehabilitation providers, and allows providers the opportunity to ask questions about the standards for approved rehabilitation providers and also to discuss the accreditation process with Comcare Australia personnel. It also provides significant opportunities to meet with other providers and local Comcare Australia personnel.

Target Markets:

Rehabilitation providers, whether external, or in-house, wishing to become officially accreditated as approved rehabilitation providers under the terms of the SRC Act.

Feedback from claims management staff and the case manager network.

Cost Considerations:

The Approved Rehabilitation Provider Training Course is a value-added service provided by Comcare Australia.

The nationally recommended price for the standard one day Approved Rehab. Provider Training Course is $350 per person.

States may produce their own course documentation by the following process –

(a)  print contents from disc held by all Rehabilitation Managers.

(b)  obtain printed folders from Rehab Policy Unit. (see above)

Printed folders will be charged to states at $10 ea. incl delivery.
