Closing Rtwps
The closure function allows a RTWP to be closed once confirmation has been received from the Case Manager that it is complete.
Comcare is measured on the strength of data that is input onto PRACSYS for Return to Work performance. It is essential that RTWP closures are received on time from Case Managers (ring and find out how the RTWP is going and when the closure will be received), and once received, data from the form is entered accurately.
It may well be that a RTWP needs to be closed and another commenced. Or sometimes, an existing RTWP is not achieving required results, and the Case Manager may start a new RTWP that better suits the employee's needs.
Remember that if closing off a RTWP (say, “RTWP A”) and recording new RTWP details (say, “RTWP B”), these must not have overlapping dates. This makes plenty of sense, as it is illogical to have one RTWP complete and another going at the same time.
There are constant reminders built into the system to ensure that once a RTWP has reached its end date, a closure, or amendment extending the RTWP, is received from the Case Manager.
This ensures that RTWPs do not just continue on without monitoring or an end focus.
The closure function is a very easy one to perform. Enter details of when the closure advice was received, what date the closure is, and the reason for the closure.
Also, check that the reason provided for a non-return to work outcome actually matches the closure code selected.

|
If the selected closure code is “P” (provider cessation of involvement) and the reason provided is “employee refused all offers of suitable employment”, then the closure reason should be “E” (employee withdrew). |
Ultimately, it is desirable that an employee reaches the final goal that is set out on the RTWP and a return to work is achieved.
After a RTWP is closed, it can be reopened. However, if access is attempted on a closed record from the RTWP list through the amend function, an error message will indicate that the RTWP being selected cannot be amended as the RTWP is closed.
Reopen the RTWP, by deleting the details in the closure, and then amend it.
