Superannuation Conditions Under The Css For Invalidity Retirement
If the Commissioner for Superannuation considered that there was a risk that the contributor would not reach maximum retiring age because of a condition identified at the time of initial entrance examination, a Benefit Classification Certificate (BCC) was issued.
If:
-
after commencing with the Commonwealth, and
-
before 20 years service was reached,
that condition resulted in invalidity retirement or death, the BCC would be looked at to see whether the retirement/death was:
-
substantially contributed to by the condition specified in the BCC; or
-
substantially contributed to by a related condition.
NB A BCC does not apply to age retirement or where the employee has had more than 20 years contributory service.
