Compensation Leave (total incapacity)
If the employee is incapacitated as a result of the compensable condition for a day or more, the GRTW will need to be determined 'around' that period of total incapacity.
Example |
An employee is on GRTW of 4 hours per day of a standard 36.45 hour week. |
On the Wednesday, she is unable to work at all because of the compensable injury. |
Mon — Tue — Wed — Thu — Fri |
4hr — 4hr — 0hr — 4hr — 4hr |
The employee will need to lodge a separate 'Claim for Time Off Work' form for the Wednesday where she was totally absent. |
The periods of incapacity for this week can be broken into 3 and should be determined on PRACSYS this way: |
the GRTW period on Monday/Tuesday; |
the totally absent period on Wednesday; and |
the GRTW period on Thursday/Friday. |
Where the entire period has already been determined as GRTW, then it must be re-determined as above to reflect the correct situation. |
Where the incapacity is for less than a day, the incapacity can be paid in conjunction with the GRTW period.
That means compensation for reduced work capacity continues to be paid for the part of the week that was on a GRTW, and total incapacity payments are paid for the day the employee was totally unfit for work.
