Allowances and no overtime

Where an employee is in receipt of allowances but no overtime, the relevant period is 2 weeks prior to the date of injury.

The NWE figure is obtained by dividing the total amount earned by the employee in this 2 weeks in half.

Example

An employee is injured on 3/2/1997.  Her salary is $1,500 a fortnight and she receives HDA allowance of $200 a fortnight.

The total salary she earned in the two weeks prior to the date of injury was $1,700.

$1,700 ÷ 2 = $850

The employee's NWE is $850.
