Shift work

Shift rotation can affect an employee's NWE from pay period to pay period.

In this situation, the NWE will not accurately represent the correct entitlement if the normal 2 week relevant period is used.  To correctly assess an employee's earnings, the relevant period becomes 12 weeks or the period of the shift rotation, whichever is less.

Example

An employee alternately works 2 weeks on night shift, and 2 weeks on day shift.

The relevant period is 4 weeks in this case.
