Employee Redeployment

Redeployment is a term used to describe

an employee being formally moved to another job because he or she can no longer perform the duties of the position they were previously in, due to the compensable condition.

This may result in:

  • a reduction in salary; and/or

  • hours of work.

Superannuation may also form part of the employee's redeployment entitlement.

Where an employee had an entitlement to a partial invalidity pension prior to 01/07/1995 in the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation CSS fund and he or she was in receipt of compensation payments, superannuation was payable.

However, on and from 01/07/1995, members of the CSS were not entitled to workers' compensation payments and a pension.

In addition, PSS members are not entitled to any partial pension payment where redeployment involves compensation.

Compensation is payable for a reduction in salary, having regard to the amount of hours the employee is working.
