The Cost Of Delay

An analysis of Comcare's data clearly demonstrates that delays have a dramatic impact on the cost of stress-related claims.

Chart 1

This chart shows how the cost of stress-related claims increases when there is substantial delay between the date of lodging the claim in Comcare and the date that a decision on liability is made.  Ensuring information is gathered quickly by the provider in these cases will help alleviate delays.

Chart 2

This chart shows how the cost of stress-related claims increases when there is substantial delay between the date of injury and date of referral for return to work assessment by the case manager.  A quick liability decision in these cases will assist rehabilitation.
