The Investigation Process

The process involves identification and immediate referral of 'difficult' or complex stress related claims to one of a group of participating Comcare approved providers (usually a psychologist) for a pre-liability assessment involving medical and workplace investigation and report to the claims manager.

The assessment is independent of the Return to Work assessment process, although some preliminary rehabilitation information is usually obtained.

If the compensation claim is subsequently accepted the provider appointed to manage the Return to Work process may or may not be the same provider who undertakes the pre-liability assessment.

It must be clearly understood that there is no commitment to use the initial assessment provider as the Return to Work provider.
