Act Progression

Since 1912, there have been four workers' compensation Acts covering Commonwealth employees for work-related injury and illness:

  •       1912;
  •       1930
  •       1971; and
  •       1988.

Over time, legislation has developed from rigid coverage solely for straightforward injuries that occurred at the workplace, to the current more equitable protection against injury and disease, arising out of or in the course of an employee's employment.
