AVERAGE WEEKLY ORDINARY TIME EARNINGS OF FULL-TIME ADULTS (AWOTEFA) UPDATE

1.Sub-section 19(5) of the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 provides for a ceiling on weekly compensation payments for incapacity for work after the first 45 weeks.  We have recently been provided with details of the 19 August 2004 increase.  A further increase is expected in November 2004.  National Office will advise MCRS staff as soon as possible.

2.The ceiling is 150% of the AWOTEFA which is updated quarterly by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.  Details of changes to the AWOTEFA since and including March 1994 are as follows:

Amendment Action

3.Remove MCRI Number 4 Amendment 23 dated 27 May 2004 and replace with this MCRI Number 4 Amendment 25.  Regrettably, amendment 24 was overlooked.  However, the attached rates include those applicable from 20 May 2004.
