How Meniere's Disease Affects Hearing

Meniere's disease is a disorder of unknown aetiology in which one of the symptoms is fluctuating deafness.  However, a varying degree of permanent impairment of cochlear function eventually supervenes in most cases.

Distension of the endolymphatic system is frequently an outstanding feature.

Audiogram features show a greater loss in the lower rather than upper frequencies.
