3.1.2 Discrepancies in assessment
3.1.2.1 — Discrepancies may be brought to the examiner's notice by such things as:
- pensioner initiated reviews (PIRs) - letter, statement or telephone
- departmentally initiated reviews (DIRs)
- third party advices
- denunciations
- data matching exercises
- the review of unusual circumstances e.g. whereabouts unknown and suspensions; or
- departmentally initiated action (DIAs) eg reassessing or examining a case because of some other action may highlight a discrepancy.
These are discussed in the following sections of this chapter.
