9.4.8 Tasmania

At present there are no legal requirements for people working with children to undertake a police check.
The Department of Health and Human Services is currently undertaking public consultation about its proposal to form a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Screening Unit. It is anticipated that legislation will be introduced to the Tasmanian Parliament in 2011.
