9.5.5 Vocational Interest Inventories

The Occupational Search Inventory Forms 1, 2 & 3 (OSI) is used to assess individuals' vocational interests and self-estimated skills. The OSI is used with a wide variety of clients including those with limited education, rehabilitation clients, workers compensation and redeployment.

The Holland's Self Directed Search (SDS) is similar to the OSI. It also matches a person's vocational interests and self-estimated skills to specific jobs or careers. This test categorises people and occupations into six types so that a person can choose a career that closely aligns to their own interests and aptitudes.

The Work Aspects Preference Scale (WAPS) is another similar tool designed to measure an individuals work preferences.
