9.5 Vocational Assessments
A vocational assessment is used to analyse an individual's current vocational interests, skills and experience, set vocational goals and outline potential job or training options.
A vocational assessment identifies and recommends vocational goals to help people identify realistic meaningful and sustainable employment.
The assessment takes into account the individual's interests, functional and work capacity and identifies transferable skills. It also includes an assessment of local and regional labour market information.
A comprehensive vocational assessment report outlines the person's vocational options, retraining needs and includes a labour market analysis.
A vocational assessment can assist:
- injured workers looking to return to the workforce;
- people returning to the workforce after a considerable time;
- employment agencies to determine best fit for placements; and
- people unsure of their next career move.
