Carpal tunnel syndrome - Myxoedema Factor

Myxoedema means a condition characterised by dry, waxy swelling of the skin and other tissues and associated with primary hypothyroidism.  The term myxoedema is sometimes used interchangeably with adult hypothyroidism.

PRELIMINARY QUESTIONS [17100]

17514 there is some evidence that myxoedema may be a factor in the development or worsening of the condition under consideration.

17322 the veteran has suffered from myxoedema at some time.

31848  myxoedema means a condition characterised by dry, waxy swelling of the skin and other tissues and associated with hypothyroidism.

17324  the veteran has established the causal connection between the myxoedema and VEA service for carpal tunnel syndrome.

17331 the veteran suffered the identified illness or injury, a type of myxoedema, at the time of the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

17325   the veteran has established the causal connection between the myxoedema and VEA service for the clinical onset of carpal tunnel syndrome.

17327  the veteran has established the causal connection between the myxoedema and operational service for the clinical onset of carpal tunnel syndrome.

or

17328  the veteran has established the causal connection between the myxoedema and eligible service for the clinical onset of carpal tunnel syndrome.

or

7334     the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.

7335     the condition under consideration permanently worsened.

8811     the identified illness or injury, a type of hypothyroidism, is causally related to operational service.

8812     the identified illness or injury, a type of hypothyroidism, is causally related to eligible service.

CLINICAL WORSENING AND OPERATIONAL SERVICE [17329]

8811     the identified illness or injury, a type of hypothyroidism, is causally related to operational service.

17335 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of operational service to which the identified illness or injury, a type of myxoedema, is causally related.

CLINICAL WORSENING AND ELIGIBLE SERVICE [17330]

8812     the identified illness or injury, a type of hypothyroidism, is causally related to eligible service.

17336 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of eligible service to which the identified illness or injury, a type of myxoedema, is causally related.
